Dona Emilia Drive, Studio City, California

This project is an extensive renovation, addition, and remodel to an existing 2-story home built in the 1960's, to make a completely unique six bedroom home with a total floor area of 5441 square feet. The entire house was gutted to the exterior walls. The ceiling was raised to 10 feet at the first floor, and a completely open plan consisting of kitchen, dining room, family room, and living room was created around a large existing wood burning fireplace. Three multi-panel sliding doors open to a central courtyard, allowing an indoor-outdoor experience.

Similarly, a 21 foot multi-panel sliding door opens to the large rear yard which contains a new pool and spa. The foyer is a two story volume with a new floating stair, an upper mezzanine surrounded by glass railings, and a full height glass entry wall with a glass pivot door. The upper level contains bedrooms and two view decks. The master bedroom is spacious with miter corner windows to the views, a fireplace, walk-in closet, and and expansive master bathroom.

The architecture is inspired by mid-century modern design with a white stucco finish and sculptural proportions.
